"MSC is a Medicaid State Plan service provided by OPWDD which assists eligible persons with developmental disabilities in gaining access to necessary supports and services appropriate to the needs of the individual. MSC is provided by qualified service coordinators and uses a person centered planning approach in developing, implementing and maintaining an Individualized Service Plan (ISP) with and for a person with developmental disabilities." ~ Medicaid Service Coordination Vendor Manual(2011), OPWDD, Albany, NY.
The Office of People with Developmental Disabilities(OPWDD) is the single provider of MSC services in New York State. The services are delivered through qualified vendors in the state. Spaulding Support Services is a qualified vendor of OPWDD with years of experience in Medicaid Service Coordination.
Service Coordination is a partnership between an individual with a disability, their involved advocates or family members, and a professionally trained staff member who works on the individual's behalf.
A Medicaid Service Coordinator(MSC) can help an individual plan supports for a fuller and more meaningful life. They can customize services, honoring the choices of each individual and family. We strive to increase opportunities for friendships and community involvement. We support individuals in making informed decisions and advocating for themselves while maintaining optimal health and safety. We can help individuals and their families explore and identify supports and services to assist them at school, work, community and home, and assist with application for Medicaid Waiver.
